Dear Parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to Welcome you and your family to the 2021-2022 St. Thecla Religious Education Program.  I hope that the summer has provided a chance for everyone to rest and recharge for what promises to be an exciting year of faith formation!

Let me introduce myself, I am Peggy DeClercq.  I am currently the Director of Faith Formation at St. Paul of Tarsus Parish.  I have been in ministry for 20+ years.   I will be assisting with the Religious Education Program at St. Thecla this year as well because Mrs. Walker has accepted a position elsewhere.  I look forward to meeting you and all the children and supporting you in your role as primary catechist of your child.

Please note that a few changes have been implemented for the upcoming year:

  • Sessions will be offered on Monday only at St. Thecla. If you need Tuesdays, please contact St. Paul of Tarsus at 586-228-6651.
  • The catechetical year will begin with all of us coming together in worship, song, and prayer at Mass on Monday, September 20 at 6 pm. Following the Mass, please go to the gathering space where the children will pick up their book, and you will have a chance to meet the catechist.
  • After you meet the catechist and receive your child’s book, you are invited to the activity room for an Ice Cream Social!
  • Students should bring their book to class with them each week and take it home with them as well. It is our hope that by doing this, parents will be able to reinforce lessons.  Also, if your child is absent, you will be able to cover the missed lesson at home.

Along with this letter you will find a registration form, medical release form, and a calendar for the upcoming year.  Please be sure to register your children as soon as possible.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the parish office at 586-791-3930.  I will check my messages on a regular basis.  Your call is important to me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

God bless,

Peggy DeClercq
