The School Health Team was established to assist our teachers in providing our students with information on today’s important health topics. The team, comprised of health-conscious parents, has partnered with St. Joseph Mercy Hospital (SJMM). SJMM has an extensive library of reference materials and hands-on activities that can educate our students in an exciting, easy to learn atmosphere. Some examples of session topics provided by the team include nutrition, diabetes, organ dissection, AED and CPR training, germ lesson and food allergy awareness. The School Health Team also sponsors and facilitates the SMART (Skills Mastery and Resistance Training) Program. This is nationally recognized, research based substance abuse prevention program offered for twelve weeks to each of our 3rd, 5th, and 7th graders. The SMART Program also integrates the Council of Bishops’ required Child Lures program that promotes child safety and addresses internet safety, bullying prevention, and avoiding dangerous situations and people.
