St. Thecla is a fortunate recipient of four permanent games, donated by Kasi Waldi as her Eagle Scout project. We now have Plinko, William Tell archery, a sucker pull, and bean bag toss. The games will be enjoyed by all ages at future festivals, candy cane carnival, ice cream social, indoor recess, staff meetings, and more.
Kasi is currently a sophomore at Austin Catholic Academy High School. She is a member of Scout Troop 219, working towards the rank of Eagle Scout. One of the rank requirements is to “plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project helpful to any religious institution, school, or community.” After volunteering in the game tent last year at our Fall Festival, Kasi noticed that all of the games were rented. That’s when she came up with the idea to build games that would be permanently available to our Parish. Kasi initiated contacting us with her idea and quickly impressed us with her energy, enthusiasm, and organizational skills. She researched the game designs, raised funds for the materials, and managed the volunteers constructing these four games. Kasi thought of every detail – display stands, laminated instructions, and extra pieces. She also donated funds that were leftover from the project budget. Even though our festival is not being held this year, St. Thecla will certainly use the games for many other activities.
We’d like to thank Kasi, along with her parents and volunteers for their generosity and hard work. Congratulations on this milestone working towards the Eagle Scout designation.
